> examples of each type of presentation according to the choice board
III. Procedures:

Encourage students to share their responses.
2. Turning to the bin of tools, say "To get our minds jogging, let's look at some of the tools community helpers use. I'm going to pass around examples of tools used in different jobs. Look at the tool, feel it in your hands, and think about who might use it, and what would they use it for? Raise your hand when you have an idea you would like to share with the group!"
--->Extension Opportunity: If students are able to differentiate and make connections to the first 6 tools easily, bring out the calculator and ruler to spark students' thinking about different jobs using the same types of tools.
*Engaging student interest;

III. Procedures:
- Introduction (10 min)
1. Ask students to sit in a circle around the rug, make sure bin with concrete community helper tools is next to you. Say "We have learned so much over the last couple of days about the different types of community helpers and the work they do. Who can remember some of the jobs we were able to try out?" - Instructional Strategies (20 min)
5. Let them know you will be sending home a note to their parents outlining the details of the project and asking them to support their child with it. Tonight, they will pick their job in discussion with their parents, then they will spend some class time tomorrow doing research on the job.
(Regarding specifics for completing the project....Over the next week and a half, students will periodically be given time to work on researching/ creating their presentation, while outside of class they will be encouraged to go with a parent to interview/ask some questions of a person doing that job. Students will then share their findings by picking one of the performance assessments on the "Choice Board" activity sheet seen below. The project will culminate with: a Career Day, where all the students dress up in the clothing worn for that job, and share their work. Parents will also be invited for Career Day as well.)
6. Talk to students about how their findings will be presented, based on the learning style that reflects them best. Pass out the "Choice Board" activity sheets and let students know there are examples of each type of presentation spread out at the stations encircled around the room. Have students take part in a merry go round exploration of the items: assign 3 students to a station, at which they will look at the example provided for that learning style. When they hear music being played, they move to the station to their right.
- Summary (7 min)
7. Say to students "Now that you have gotten the chance to look at the examples provided, I want you to move to the station of the learning style that you think best fits you. Once you are there, turn to the other classmates who have also picked this style, and talk about why you think it fits you."
* Connections to other lessons;
8. Encourage students to go deeper and think about interview questions other than tools, location, and uniform, that they would like to ask someone about their job. Ask students for such ideas and start a short list that will later be added to as students develop their projects.
