Why do people make money?
A note from the author...
To me, the lemonade stand represents the type of learning experiences children should be encountering in social studies instruction, especially in regards to primary learners. Utilizing authentic opportunities, educators should provide hands on activities that engage students in developing their understanding of meaningful concepts and skills. Effective teaching is then realized when students have momentarily forgotten that they are in the midst of a social studies lesson, because they are too busy making lemonade out of lemons.
Keeping such goals in mind, I have created a unit of lesson plans at the kindergarten grade level to help children answer the essential question of why do people make money. Enjoy!
